How Many Peppers Would A Culpepper Pepper If A Culpepper Could Culpeppers?‏

I think Steve Phillips' biggest issues is the fact that she was nasty ugly... I, for one, enjoyed his work on ESPN and will miss his insight. Harold Reynolds, Sean Salisbury and not Phillips. Maybe it's the curse of the network?

Think the Red Wings will be sellers, rather than buyers at the trade deadline? It's possible, but do they have any parts to sell that other teams would be interested in? Would anyone give up anything for Bertuzzi, Williams, Rafalski, Draper or Maltby? Could anyone else on the team be had for the right price?

Why is Daunte Culpepper the starting QB for the Lions? I realize that Matt Stafford is hurt, but why Culpepper over Drew Stanton? Does someone think Culpepper is going to lead the team to the playoffs? Why not see what they have in Stanton. He can't be any worse than Culpepper.

I'm finally over the MSU loss to Iowa last Saturday. It was crushing, but I do believe that brighter days are ahead for the Spartans. I'm hoping they take out their frustrations on Minnesota this weekend. As for Iowa, I hope they build off the victory and run the table. I'd love to see them playing for the national championship come January. Maybe they could give Alabama a good game and make the Big Ten proud.

Has there ever been a worse song than "The Fixer" by Pearl Jam? Wow... what a tragedy that song is

It still amuses me that UPS uses a song by The Postal Service in their commercials.

Here is a sure sign of the Armageddon. I'm in five fantasy football leagues this year and am sporting a combined record of 13-21-1 after seven weeks. Ouch!! I'm better than that. I put too much stock in Matt Forte, and he's been a bust.

Ten Things I Think

Here are ten things I promise will happen in the NFL this season.

10. The Detroit Lions will win a game.

9. Brett Favre will miss a game.

8. Aaron Rodgers will be the MVP of the league.

7. Haloti Ngata of the Baltimore Ravens will be the Defensive Player of the Year.

6. Matthew Stafford will be Rookie of the Year.

5. The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers will not make the playoffs.

4. The AFC Division winners will be Baltimore, New England, Indianapolis & San Diego. Wild Cards to Tennessee and Miami.

3. The NFC Division winners will be Giants, Green Bay, Atlanta and Seattle. Wild Cards to Washington and Minnesota.

2. The Chargers will beat the Packers in the Super Bowl

1. Brett Favre will retire at the end of the season.

I Just Wanna Be Loved By You!‏

CBS Sports has the best sports app for the iPhone. I tried ESPN, which is (lame) only scores and Fox Sports. CBS blows the two of them away. It's kind of ironic, because I don't like CBS Sports web site at all. Also, for the record, it doesn't appear that NBC Sports has an application for the iPhone.

I think Smarties are like crack for non-druggies.

Speaking of drugs and medication, I like it when I find random things in my desk. Usually I have no clue what they are, because I threw the box away. I end up taking them and hoping they work for whatever it is I need medication for...

I really like green and yellow, but it doesn't look good on you is not the way to tell your wife to pick something different to wear.

I did my first fantasy football draft of the year last night. I nailed it. There's no way, barring injury, that I won't run away with the league this year. I hope it's like that in my other two! I have a draft tonight and another tomorrow. One more after that, but I'm not sure when.

Forward Down The Field A Fighting Team That Will Not Yield

I hit 100,000 miles on my Aztek on the way to work this morning.

OK, so I used to think I was pretty good at Madden. I recently purchased Madden 2010 for my PS3 and started playing online against other people and I just get my behind handed to me. I'm losing games 35-7, 42-14 and I'm sure I'm losing to 10 year old kids. I guess I need to stop being the Lions. Seems that every time I play an online game I'm playing against the Patriots or Steelers. I cannot run the ball, I cannot throw the ball, I cannot stop the run and I cannot stop the pass. Gosh, that does sound like the Lions...

Illegal Procedure

From the June 30 Oakland Press -
Donte’ Stallworth (Cleveland Browns Wide Receiver) began serving a 30-day jail sentence Tuesday for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida, a punishment made possible by his cooperation with investigators and the fervent wish by the victim’s family to put the matter behind them, according to a report filed by the Associated Press.

From the August 20 Buffalo News -
One-time Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress (New York Giants Wide Receiver) on Thursday accepted a plea bargain with a two-year prison sentence for accidentally shooting himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub.

OK, Donte' Stallworth was drunk, driving in his car, hit a man (pedestrian) and killed said man. Plaxico Burress was in a club, with a gun, shot himeslf and lived to tell about it.

Are you kidding me here? Stallworth was driving drunk and killed a pedestrian. Burress was in a club and accidentally shot HIMSELF in the leg. Stallworth gets 30 days and Burress gets 2 years... What is going on here?

Thank goodness that NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, was smart enough to realize that Stallworth got off way too light. He suspended Stallworth for the entire season. I've got to think that he was trying to make up for the court being so light on him.

What a joke...

Cheating Cheaters Who Cheat At Cheating...

Here we go again... The NCAA just continues to amaze me with their rulings. Did you see what they did to Memphis? They vacated their 38 wins from 2008. Stripped them of their championship game appearance. I guess it's a good thing they lost that game, or who knows what would have happened. The NCAA is saying that Memphis used an ineligible player for the entire season. They did not name the player, but rumor is that it's Derrick Rose. I have no problem with the NCAA stripping all those wins and stuff from Memphis. What I have a problem with is the fact that nothing is done to Rose or to coach John Calipari. Rose went on to be the number one pick in the draft with a multi million dollar contract. Calipari left Memphis to take a huge contract from Kentucky. They both walk away clean, no blood on their hands. There's something wrong with this. Do you think that Rose knew what he did was wrong? He went from Chicago to Detroit to take his SAT test. Who does that??? There was a booster for Memphis that arranged all of that and got him a shady score. Do you think Calipari knew nothing of this?

This is the second final four trip that Calipari teams have been stripped of. His 1995 (I think) U Mass team was also stripped for using a player that had made contact with an agent. Memphis also had a previous final four appearance stripped from them.

Because of all of this, Memphis has to pay back all the money they received from Conference USA revenue sharing. This is where I think that Memphis should be able to go after the ineligible athlete and the coach that allowed him to play. I think they should be able to go after them criminally to get back that money that they have to return. I also think that, if that ineligible athlete was Derrick Rose, that he should man up and offer to pay it back to the school since he's now in the NBA making buckets full of money. Calipari is a dirt bag and I would not expect him to do anything, but he should. That's why I think the school needs to press charges against him.

W.A.S.P. is on XM again. Cool.

Do you think the Tigers should have retired #23 for Willie Horton?

Can't decide if I like the new Paramore single, or not.

No HD, No Me. Know HD, Know Me!‏

I want to start a heavy metal band that does nothing but Billy Joel covers. I'm going to call it Brenda's Revenge and our first album is titled "Inside The Spider".

I tried an Everything bagel from Pantera Bread this morning. Holy moly was that good. I was surprised. I think it was more garlic than anything, but it was tasty. It might be my new favorite. I'm a plain bagel with plain cream cheese kind of guy.

The wife wants to go to Traverse City for Labor Day weekend. I'm kind of torn. One one hand, there's Slabtown Burgers. She promised me we could go there. On the other hand, there is the holiday weekend traffic. That's a nightmare. On the one hand, there's visiting with family and spending time on the beach. On the other hand, there is MSU football that Saturday, and I do not want to miss that. It's kickoff weekend, for goodness sake. I know there are TV's in TC, but I need HD to be OK. See how torn I am and how upsetting this is to me?!?!?

Hey, look at that. This is the third post in a row that I've been able to avoid politics. Reid will be so proud!!

I found a couple cool apps for the iPhone today. One is for editing photos taken with the phone camera. I also found a couple cool football ones. We'll see how cool they actually are, once the season starts. Finally, I downloaded the app from The Hockey News. How did I miss this one being available??? It's worth the price of the iPhone by itself!!

Someone Needs To Make Me Some Blueberry Crisp!‏

I was sitting at my desk this morning, listening to W.A.S.P. on satellite, when one of the original founding owners of the company I work for walked by. I found myself wondering if Tom, the owner, had ever heard W.A.S.P. before. I'm going to bet that he hasn't. I guess I can take him off the list of those who haven't.

Have you heard the new song from Muse? It's incredible! It's currently my favorite song, along with the new Our Lady Peace song. Gosh I love good music.

I'm looking forward to "Man Day" coming up in a couple weeks. A great day spent with some buddies playing golf, poker and telling lies. It's a hoot and I cannot wait for it to get here. I think we should do it more than once a year.

I want to open a restaurant. I want to serve food based on either famous restaurants, or food that's been featured on Man vs Food. If I saw a sandwich on MVF that was featured in El Paso, I'd have that and call it "The El Paso". Something from Pittsburgh would be "The Pittsburger". I want to serve a 40 inch pizza that I'll call "The Mother Ship". I've got this all planned out in my head. It'll be a beautiful thing. I just need to come up with a catchy name for my restaurant. Grab Grub A Go Go!

That Certainly Was Surprising

Greetings and welcome back. It's been awhile, and I know that's my fault. You've probably stopped by, but I wasn't home. I apologize and promise that I'll try to be better about that.

How has your summer been? Mine has been pretty good. Busy, but pretty good. Lakestock 2009 has come and gone. It was a great time. I'm already starting to plan Lakeapalooza for the next party. I'll be sure to pass those details along to you.

What else is new...? Well, I'm still looking for the perfect app for my iPhone. I've tried a lot, but deleted most of them, as they're just silly. I'm kind of disappointed in ESPN for not having a better iPhone app. They have "Score Center", and scores is all it is.

I think the new Pearl Jam single "The Fixer" is the worst song I've heard since "The Warrior" by Scandal.

I bought Madden 2010 for my PS3 yesterday. It's sweet!

Am I the only one that enjoyed seeing Tiger Woods puke all over himself on Sunday? Don't get me wrong, I like Tiger. But it's good to see him fail once every now and then. Especially having the lead on the final day of a major.

Guitar Hero Van Halen comes out December 22. Is it just me, or is that too close to Christmas. Is someone trying to inflate the demand for this? Interesting... Hey, if you see my lovely wife, please let her know that I'd like to have GHVH under my Christmas tree this year!!

Did you know you can follow me on Twitter? DennisLLake is my Twitter name I use to tweet.
